About this tool

Large photos slow down websites and fill up email attachments. This compressor re-encodes your images at the quality you choose and can also reduce their width, which usually saves the most space. Because it runs entirely in your browser, your pictures never leave your device.

  • Private: your data is processed on your device and never uploaded.
  • Free with no account, limits or watermarks.
  • Fast: results appear instantly, even offline once the page has loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Will compressing reduce the quality?

JPG and WebP compression removes detail your eye barely notices. At 70–80% quality most photos look the same as the original. If the compressed file would be bigger than the original, the tool keeps your original.

Why does my PNG barely get smaller?

PNG is a lossless format, so re-saving it as PNG cannot remove much. Convert it to WebP or JPG, or reduce the maximum width, to get a much smaller file.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to us or stored anywhere.
